How many homes will there be and how many will be affordable housing?
Who would buy these homes?
As one of Brighton's most exciting developments, it is expected that demand for homes would be high from all sectors of potential buyers. The proposed community facilities will appeal to a wide market. It is expected that a significant number of residents will come from the Brighton community and that few will be second homes.
40% will be affordable housing, including homes targeted at essential city workers and "empty nesters".
What will the construction impact be on nearby residents and businesses?
The construction sequence has been carefully planned to minimise impact on the rest of the Marina and surrounding communities, and has been praised by CABE as a model of best practice. Residents will have the chance to join a Construction Committee, set up to monitor the construction works.

The number of children of school age living at the Marina will be relatively low. In addition, there are almost 1,500 empty primary and secondary school places currently available in Brighton and Hove schools.
How will views from surrounding properties be affected?
Extensive visual impact studies have been carried out to support the planning application, which include computer generated images of the proposals within key views along the coast. These views demonstrate the high quality of architecture that is proposed and illustrate the positive relationship of the proposals to the surrounding area.
Will new jobs be created?
It is estimated that over 100 new permanent jobs will be created, as well as up to 400 during the development's construction. The policy will be to recruit locally wherever possible.
