Wilkinson Eyre has won the Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize two years in succession, firstly for the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham and in 2002 for the much acclaimed Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which spans the River Tyne.

The brief incorporated the need for the design to integrate with the existing marina and improve physical and visual links with the city, whilst creating a new exhilarating and sustainable work, leisure and residential community.
